James Dixon & Sons

James Dixon established his company in Sheffield, England in 1806, becoming "& Son" in 1823 and “& Sons” in 1835. The firm produced a large variety of high-quality silver, Britannia metal, and silverplate products and is recognized for its exceptional quality tableware, whistles, and hunting accessories. London showrooms were opened in London in 1873 and in Sidney and Melborne in 1912. The firm continued to be a family-run enterprise until 1976. From 1879 on, the trumpet distinguishes James Dixon & Sons pieces from James Deakin & Sons, another local silversmith.
